"Pehn likou sohte depehd."

There is a Pasifika scholar who shares that the child of the Pasifika diaspora is like a canoe. The canoe may travel far across the ocean, but the materials and craftsmanship that make up that canoe will always come from the roots of its island.
This Pohnpeian proverb, from the island my family comes from, means: “A united canoe will not capsize.”
As your wellness provider, this is my guiding philosophy. I believe our work together is like navigating the ocean in a shared canoe; where trust, connection, and unity keep us steady through changing tides. My goal is to partner with you so we are united in optimizing your mental wellness, and in essence, preventing it from “capsizing.” You are rowing the canoe while I assist with navigation!
Just as a well-built canoe carries its voyager safely, I want our therapeutic journey to be grounded in your strengths, your story, and the deep cultural roots that shape who you are. The long-term goal is for you to navigate independently after this voyage.
